Drop Off Used Solar Eclipse Glasses at Select Locations for Reuse/Recycle

Due to the unique combination of materials in eclipse-viewing glasses (cardstock and solar film), we cannot accept these at regular single stream recycling drop-off locations or curbside recycling.

When you are ready to recycle your eclipse glasses we’ve got you covered across Medina County!  Check out the drop off locations below:

Medina

  • Huntington Bank Lobby (Medina Square) – Available until April 10th
  • Medina Soil & Water Conservation District – Available until April 18th
  • Medina Rec Center – Available April 8-10
  • Medina City Hall – Available April 8-10
  • Medina Fire Station No.1 – Available April 8–10
  • Medina Library – Available until April 18th
  • The Book Shelf Bookstore – Available until April 18th

Brunswick

Seville

The solar eclipse glasses will be sent to Astronomers Without Borders for potential reuse at future global solar eclipse events. And for those that can’t be reused, they’re teaming up with a specialized recycler to separate the solar film from the paper cardstock. Efficient AND eco-friendly!
