Recycle Holiday Lights
Open Now thru February 28th
When you’re done with those old holiday lights, recycle them! The Medina County Solid Waste District is collecting broken, burned out or tangled strings of lights for recycling.
Drop off unwanted holiday light strings at the Medina County Solid Waste District’s Specialty Waste area located at 8700 Lake Road in Seville.
Monday – Friday: 6:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. until Noon
Follow these simple steps to recycle strings of lights properly:
Do not place lights in the single stream drop-off recycling containers located throughout the County or your curbside recycling cart. The lights will cause problems at the local recycling facility.
Place strings of lights loose in the marked drop box located at our Specialty Waste area.
Strings of lights must be removed from any metal or plastic forms or attachments for proper recycling.
Sorry, we cannot accept pre-lit trees or garland.
Helpful Hint: Use energy-saving holiday lights. Decorate your house with LED lights that use 90 percent less energy than conventional holiday lights.
